Why should bearings be lubricated?

Bearing lubrication mainly plays two major role, the first is: separation of bearing contact surface (eliminate wear and reduce friction);The second point is to protect the bearing (avoid bearing corrosion and prevent impurities from affecting the use of the bearing).

How to choose bearing lubricant?

1. Choice of bearing lubricant (1) :

● Solid lubricant: mainly used for deep groove ball bearings, temperature & GT;200 ℃.

● Grease: suitable for all types of bearings, depending on the bearing speed and type of grease, except for thrust self-aligning roller bearings.Characterized by low friction and low noise.

● Lubricating oil (large dose) : suitable for all bearings.The viscosity of the lubricating oil determines its noise-reducing effect. It has a good heat dissipation effect and circulates through the lubricating oil

The lubrication between oil and steel can remove friction particles from the moving system, but the vortices created by large amounts of lubricating oil can cause friction, resulting in a loss of energy.

● Lubricating oil (small dose) : suitable for all bearings.The viscosity of the lubricating oil determines its effectiveness in reducing noise, and the dose and viscosity of the lubricating oil determine the great friction

Small.

2. Choice of bearing lubricant (2) :

The following considerations should be taken into account when selecting lubricants for bearings:

● Working environment;

● Operating, noise, friction and temperature requirements;

● Safety requirements for friction, fatigue, corrosion, and damage caused by foreign matter (water, sand, etc.) seeping from the outside;

● Installation and maintenance costs;

●70% to 80% of bearings are lubricated with grease;
