What is the function of the bearing seat?

Feb 27, 2024Leave a message

The bearing seat is a component used to support the bearing. It is usually used together with the bearing to fix the bearing, bear the load and ensure the normal operation of the bearing. The main function of the bearing seat is to support the rotating shaft, bear axial and radial loads, and lubricate the bearing through its internal lubricating oil to reduce friction and wear and ensure long-term stable operation of the bearing.

The bearing seat is an important component that connects the bearing and the machine seat. It mainly plays the following roles:

1. Supporting function: The bearing seat can support the bearing so that the bearing can carry the axial and radial loads of the machine, as well as support the rotating shaft.
2. Positioning function: The bearing seat can fix the bearing at an accurate position on the machine, ensuring that the axial distance between the inner and outer rings of the bearing and the end cover is correct.
3. Sealing function: The bearing seat can use a sealing structure to ensure that the lubricating oil inside the bearing is clean and lubricated and does not leak out.
4. Reduce noise: The flange part and groove part on the bearing seat can reduce the transmission of vibration, thereby reducing the noise of the machine.

Common materials for bearing seats include cast steel, cast iron, cast aluminum, copper alloy, forged steel, stainless steel, plastic and their composite materials, etc. The exact material chosen depends on the application and requirements.

For example, cast iron bearing seats are suitable for low speed, light load and situations that do not require high-precision operation; cast steel bearing seats have good strength and wear resistance and are suitable for heavy load and high-speed situations; forged steel bearing seats have better Mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, suitable for high temperature and high load situations; stainless steel bearing seats are suitable for corrosive environments and food processing industries.

In addition, plastics and their composite materials can also be used in the manufacture of bearing seats, such as polyamide, polyurethane, etc. These materials are lightweight, flexible, good impact resistance, self-lubricating, and have excellent insulation properties, but they may not be strong enough. And durable, suitable for some low load and low speed bearing seats.
